$30 vs $300 Bikini: What's the Real Difference?
An industry insider breaks down the real differences between cheap and luxury swimwear — fabric, stitching, lining, and pricing logic explained.
My name is Da Yu, and I was born in Xingcheng, China—widely known as the "Swimwear Capital of the World," where approximately one out of every four swimsuits globally is produced. Growing up in such a unique industrial environment, I developed an early and intuitive understanding of the swimwear industry and its complete production process.
From fabric selection and pattern development to printing techniques and quality control, what may seem complex to others has always been part of my everyday life. Over time, I built a deep understanding of what defines high-quality swimwear—durable materials, comfortable fabrics, and the craftsmanship behind well-made products. These early experiences laid a solid foundation for my long-term involvement in the industry.
At the age of 18, I pursued a degree in Software Engineering, where I developed strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. This technical background later allowed me to approach traditional manufacturing from a more structured and data-driven perspective.
At 25, I returned to my hometown and founded TideLine Swimwear, with the goal of sharing real, experience-based insights about the swimwear industry. Through this platform, I aim to make industry knowledge more accessible and practical for those who are interested in swimwear, especially entrepreneurs and brands looking to enter the market.
All the content I create is based on real-world manufacturing experience and first-hand industry knowledge, rather than second-hand information.
My goal is simple: to make the swimwear industry more transparent and help more people truly understand it, so they can successfully build their own swimwear brands.
